Day 1

Total Miles: 283
Total number of States: 1

Well, today kicked off the big road trip across the country! I managed to get everything packed and in the car,and took off around 1:00. This was a short driving day. My destination was Alta lake, in eastern Washington, where the college group at my parents' church was having a campout.

The drive from my parents' house to Alta lake (in order left to right, up to down)

The drive was beautiful, across Stevens pass and up the Columbia river a ways. I got the the campground around 4:00 and hooked up with group. After dinner, a few of us ran up the ridge behind the campground to get a good view of the lake.

Alta lake panorama from above (horrible lighting conditions, but you get the idea)

We then had our evening service as a beautiful warm night set in and a full moon rose. Nothing else too exciting to report here. Just one decent picture, taken after dark:
